On the bustling corner of Prince and Lafayette Streets, Delicatessen serves as a posh meeting spot for fashion-forward hipsters and tourists alike. Sip spicy jalapeno margaritas and munch on creative comfort food like cheeseburger spring rolls while you ask each other get-to-know-you questions. If you’re not impressed with your tablemate, scope the passersby for some potential eye candy.

This indoor/outdoor bistro may be past its prime as far as trendiness goes, but if you’re looking for a convenient spot to grab a drink under forgiving lighting, B Bar’s sparkling ambiance should do the trick. If things go well, share a pitcher of sangria or a few pints of beer over a plate of truffle fries. The place is sprawling, so if you need a quick escape, you could easily head towards the bathrooms and make your exit.

Meet at this cozy Prospect Heights gastropub for a drink, and if things are going well, order $1 oysters during the daily happy hour from 5 to 7 p.m. or split a flight of whiskey. The music isn’t too loud so you can actually hear each other speak, and if you’re getting along well, there are numerous bars to check out along Vanderbilt–which can also serve as escapes if you need a back-up plan.

If you have a good feeling about your date and want to make a tasteful impression, head to this ’70s Harlem-inspired cocktail lounge where DJs spin jazz and soul nightly. Start out at the bar if you’re not ready to commit to a booth and sip a French 75 (Bulldog Gin, lemon juice, sugar and Champagne) or The Suburban (rye whiskey, Gosling’s Black Seal Rum, port, orange juice and bitters) until things loosen up. If you make it to the end of the night, you and your new friend might want to retreat to the fireplace in back for some cozy snuggling.

This gastropub is stylish enough to be date-worthy without veering into romantic territory. Choose from nearly 80 international beers while you make small talk at long communal tables. In mild weather, the windows are opened wide for a breezy feel, and you can check out the foot traffic from the Rivington Hotel next door, in case you’re not impressed with your immediate view.
